General Info

CONTRACT & ADAPTATION TRAINING FOR CANDIDATES SEEKING EMPLOYMENT AS
‘SENIOR CARE ASSISTANT’ OR ‘ADAPTATION NURSE’

We mainly recruit for two kinds of Homes: 'Residential Homes' and 'Nursing Homes'
At Residential Homes nursing care is not strictly required as the residents are frail and elderly without the need for nursing input e.g. Parkinsons. This route is taken due to some specific advantages.
It is only in Nursing Homes that you can undergo adaptation training – usually between 3 and 6 months. It could take up to a year to get the PIN no from (NMC) Nursing & Midwifery Council. Following the receipt of Pin no you would be allowed to work as a Nurse. Although, only some Nursing Homes have training facility. A training charge could be levied.

CONTRACT
You will initially work as a Senior Carer until successful completion of adaptation training. Then the recognised institution could certify and recommend you to the NMC for receipt of your Pin number. If you do not meet with the requirements, adaptation training could take much longer than the stipulated period and on some occasions be refused.
On receipt of the PIN No. from the NMC, the salary would range from 14,000 to 17,000 per annum.

The contract period will be for 48 months. You could move to a NHS hospital following job applications after your contracted period. This minimum period is to be fair to both you and the employer as they wish to have continuity of care for their residents. Where a Home does not have the training facility the contract period is 18 months - this ensures the freedom for the nurse to join another training organisation or a hospital. This thus does not tie the nurse down. Breach of contract would lead to financial costs.

The annual salary would start from £11,500 for 42 hours per week. You would have Tax, Superannuation & National Insurance deducted from the salary. The scale of taxation works out to approximately 20 to 25%.

Holidays = 20 days (equates to 4 weeks) per year. Overtime is extra earning. Allowing for accommodation, food and other costs, one manages to make some savings.

There are 4 different shifts: Early (8am to 2pm), Late (2pm to 8pm), Full (8am to 8pm) and Night shift (8pm to 8 am). Most Homes follow this pattern.

ACCOMMODATION
Your rent will generally be £69 per week for a single room or £59 per week for shared accommodation (inclusive of heating, electricity, water bills and council tax only). This varies from place to place in the UK. Other utilities like telephones and TV licenses are not included. You may have to use bus service to commute to the Nursing Home.

We operate a ‘meet & greet’ policy – we pick you up at the airport and transport you to your place of work. You will have to inform us if you wish to be picked up from the airport - travel dates. Please make sure you do not arrange to meet friends or family if you have arranged for your pick up through us as this will disrupt the pick up pattern. You will have to inform us of the travel dates by providing your itinerary.
